CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Selena (lead) – black woman, 22 y/o. Recently lost her mother and finds herself adrift. She needs help, answers, and connection, but she isn’t sure she wants any of it.
Avi (lead) – white man, 40-45 y/o. A musician and recovering addict, finally settled and open to being a father, until a 22-year-old “child” arrives on his doorstep, opening old wounds.
Nya (lead) – black woman, 35-45 y/o. Going through invitro fertilization when a fully grown “child” arrives on her doorstep, challenging her relationship to her husband and to motherhood.
Mrs. Patterson – black woman, 60-80 y/o. Warm towards her friends and family, but fiercely protective. Unabashedly old-school and set in her ways.
Nurse – any gender/race, 25-60 y/o. Professional, experienced, no-nonsense, but retains the capacity to be surprised by human frailty and incongruity.
Drew – biracial presenting (black-white) man, 18-24 y/o. Respectful of his elders, but definitely his own man… or at least trying to be.
Marisol – Latinx woman, 18-22 y/o. Thorough, good at the job, but bored by it, and not afraid to think outside the box or buck the system.
Student – any gender/race, 18-25 y/o. Although a polite Midwesterner, distrusts the millennials and boomers that occasionally try (too hard) to engage.
