Sentimental Value (2025) [OCAP]
Cabaret remains one of the most influential film musicals, notable for its integration of stage performance, choreography, and cinematic storytelling. Its use of the Kit Kat Club as a framing device allows performance to comment directly on the political and social atmosphere of Weimar-era Berlin, making it especially relevant for discussions of musical theatre adaptation, staging, and performance style.
Hamnet also engages deeply with theatrical history through its connection to Shakespeare’s family life, while Sentimental Value centers on artistic collaboration and performance within the context of filmmaking.
All screenings take place at the Marquee Theater in Union South and are free for students. If helpful, I would be happy to provide a flyer or short blurb tailored to your specific course.
