Mad City Ghost Walks is heading into our 3rd year of business and we’re looking for outgoing, creative individuals who want to make extra money while having an absolute blast giving walking tours in Madison.
We’re expanding our offerings and developing new tours alongside our established experiences (check them out at MadCityGhostWalks.com). If you can captivate an audience, tell a great story, and enjoy performing, this might be the perfect fit.
We want guides who can:
Engage and entertain a crowd
Take a provided script and make it your own
Develop a character, style, or persona and fully commit to it
Be creepy, spooky, funny, or deeply knowledgeable—depending on the tour
Master the tour material and confidently answer guest questions
This is your show. As long as guests have fun and leave impressed, you’re doing it right.
Knowledge & Creativity
Scripts and research are provided
Once established, guides are encouraged to add their own research and flavor
Knowledge of Madison & Wisconsin history and/or the paranormal is a big plus
Many guests are from out of town, so being able to recommend restaurants or answer basic city questions is helpful (you don’t need to be an expert—just willing to learn)
There are also opportunities to get involved in:
Script writing, Historical or Paranormal Research, Business Development This is a very collaborative
Schedule & Physical Requirements
Tours typically run April – November, with peak season in
Advertising, Marketing, & Media (We have been featured on Channel 3000, News 15, In the 608, Capital Times, Brava Magazine, Several Podcasts, and more)
iPad for multimedia presentations, background music & customer correspondence
Scripts & Research
Uniform items such as T-shirts, coats, rain gear, umbrellas
Costumes/makeup may be compensated
There are no costs to you, aside from optional personal presentation items.

This position is structured like your own small business, with Mad City Ghost Walks handling the overhead. We want guides who love the job, because passion leads to better tours, better reviews, and more bookings—for both you and the company.
