
TECH SWING

Join Northern Sky for a summer of rotating original musical theater rep under the stars in beautiful Peninsula State Park, Door County WI. The Tech Swing stagehand, under the direction of the Technical Department heads and Park Production Stage Manager, assists Park Technical Team members with preparation and production of the 2026 season with knowledge and experience in lighting, sound, scenic elements, props crafts, and stage carpentry. This job is typically audio-department-aligned, with crossover in all other technical areas. Employee will assist Audio Supervisor and Master Electrician with park audio installation and electrics installation, and will have the opportunity to shadow and expand skills in those areas. The Tech Swing will also work with the Master Carpenter and Stage Management staff to learn and execute scenery and props load in and set up procedures. Employee will assist with the flow of scenery, properties, and necessary tools, assist Audio department with set up and test of sound equipment, and assist ME with hang and focus of lights. During the summer run, the Tech Swing assists with notes and maintenance of sets and properties as directed by Park Stage Manager and Resident Designer/Production Manager. Participation in the end of season Park strike is also expected.

- Housing is provided.
- Weekly Salary: $600 per week, paid on Biweekly payroll.

Park Master Electrician:
May 25 – August 30, 2026
The Northern Sky Park Master Electrician works collaboratively and productively to execute the lighting
designs for all Northern Sky Park Productions in rotating rep, smoothly interfacing with Production
Manager, Lighting Designers, Audio Supervisor, Stage Managers, and Park Technical Crew. Scope of
work includes leading Park electrics load in and troubleshooting of all fixtures and equipment, summer
rep plot hang and focus, support and notes execution during the tech rehearsal process, nightly set up
and shut down of all Park lighting and electrics related equipment. Nightly Dimmer Check and
troubleshooting of any issues that may arise in the electrics/lighting repertory plot in the Northern Sky
Park Amphitheater during show runs. Nightly execution of light Qs for all park productions. Participation
in Park strike leading the electrics team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read and interpret light plots to create equipment, material, and time estimates.
- Proficiency in the use of Vectorworks or AutoCAD, and Lightwrite desirable but not required.
- Must have capacity for frequent work on extension and other ladders, with appropriate use of
fall protection equipment and knowledge of fall arrest techniques. - Knowledge of standard and safe hanging, anchoring and rigging practices for stage electrics
equipment. - Proficiency with ETC lighting desks/consoles, for programming, operation, troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of DMX and the use of various non-unit lighting equipment.
- Experience with non-dimmer per circuit theatres (i.e. all circuits must be individually patched into
dimmers) and load balancing. - Routine lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and excellent inter-personal, organizational,
collaborative, communication and leadership skills. - Knowledge of industry and OSHA standard safety practices.
- Ability to see clearly in low-light situations such as are common backstage and in the theatre;
walk and stand on complex stage settings throughout day-to-day activities.
