A parable of corruption, power, and danger – Bertolt Brecht’s reimagining of the rise of the Nazi power in Germany is transposed to gangland Chicago. Small time hood Arturo Ui climbs the ladder of authority, intimidating businesses and removing inconvenient obstacles through any means necessary. A satire of authoritarian impulses with all too relevant messages for today’s world.
