Sandy Peterson – Receives Educational Innovation Mini-Grant

by Melinda Menard

The Department of Theatre and Drama, the Office of Undergraduate Advising; Division of Diversity, Equity, and Educational Achievement; and Theatre for Cultural and Social Awareness are all sponsoring units.

TCSA was founded by Patrick Sims (currently the Interim Vice Provost & Chief Diversity Officer of the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Educational Achievement) ten years ago, TCSA is a form of applied theatre, dedicated to the fruitful exploration of sensitive subject matter often found in workplace environments and educational settings (sexual harassment, preferential treatment based on race, etc.).

Sandy plans to  conduct an initial assessment, asking several undergraduate advisors to share with her some general information, so that she can develop appropriate scripts.  The writing process includes a number of drafts and a final.  Once the scripts are finished, Sandy will rehearse with the actors, who would then perform the plays during the training.  After each play, Sandy will facilitate a dialogue with the participants.

Congratulations Sandy on receiving this educational innovation grant!
